Terms of use and privacy
These terms apply to everyone who uses BAKO.lk.
1. What BAKO.lk is
BAKO.lk is an advertising platform for heavy machinery in Sri Lanka. We publish adverts placed by sellers. We are not a party to any sale, hire or other transaction between a buyer and a seller, and we do not hold funds, provide escrow, arrange transport or inspect machines.
2. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything done through your account. You must give accurate contact details, and you must not create an account on behalf of someone else without their permission. We may suspend an account that breaches these terms.
3. Placing an advert
You may only advertise machinery you own or are authorised to sell. Every advert must describe the machine accurately, including its condition, operating hours and any known faults. Photographs must be of the actual machine. We review adverts before publication and may reject or remove any advert at our discretion.
4. Prohibited content
Do not post stolen machinery, machinery you cannot lawfully sell, duplicate adverts for the same machine, misleading prices, or contact details belonging to someone else. Do not use the platform to send unsolicited marketing to other users.
5. Transactions between users
Any agreement you reach with another user is between you and them alone. We strongly recommend inspecting a machine in person and verifying ownership documents before any payment. BAKO.lk is not liable for loss arising from a transaction arranged through the platform.
6. Personal data we collect
When you register we collect your name, email address and phone number. When you place an advert we collect the machine details and the contact information you choose to publish. When you send an inquiry we record your name, phone number, message, IP address and browser user agent so we can prevent abuse.
7. How we use your data
We use your data to operate the marketplace: to publish your adverts, to pass your inquiries to sellers, to notify you about your account, and to detect fraud and abuse. Contact details you publish in an advert are visible to anyone viewing that advert. We do not sell your personal data.
8. Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in, to remember the language you chose and to protect forms against abuse. We do not use advertising cookies.
9. Your rights
You can view and correct your details at any time in your dashboard. You may ask us to delete your account and your adverts by contacting us. Some records, such as audit logs, are retained where we need them to prevent fraud.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the platform develops. Where a change materially affects you, we will tell you before it takes effect.
